Little Souls®...Living with Soul

Anatomy of a Little Soul
Little Souls dolls have an emotional appeal we can't explain, but all it takes is one look and you either get it or you don't.  They feed our souls in some ineffable way, whether lounging on a chair in the corner or taking pride of place on the living room sofa.  They are so identifiably human, with their big individual personalities and often-bigger attitudes.  They remind us of our own vulnerabilities and somehow reassure us in our adulthood that we still retain the joy and free spirit so natural to our youth.

Whatever Little Souls means to you, each has a unique story.  Sometimes we tell it, but more often our customers tell it to us!  What links each Little Soul one to the next is the creative process that brings her to life.  The magic begins in our workshop, and thankfully extends all the way to our Little Souls' new homes.

Hats: Little Souls people wear "real people" hats.  Sometimes we use vintage hats collected over many years; sometimes we shop for the most outrageously gorgeous hats at the swanky ateliers, and sometimes we open a box and find inside a treasure trove of hats sent to the workshop from a favorite customer or valued friend.

Hair: Little Souls hair looks real.  It's not, so please don't put hot rollers or a straightening rod to it!  Sometimes we use yarn hair too.  Whatever we use, you have the choice of both color and style!

Little Souls
are known for the 4-year-old's "let-me-dress-myself" mentality: Unusual mixes of colors, patterns, and textures that, despite the chaos of the raided closet, all complement each other.

Rose:
We put lots of detail on our dolls, as you may have noticed.  Sometimes you'll find a stunning bloom or a jeweled pin; there might be a bird or feather tucked into a hat brim or some delicate earrings dangling; other times you'll find notes and petite keepsakes tucked into a pocket or purse.

Feet:  Little Souls have big feet.  We think it makes them look a little vulnerable.  Oh who are we kidding--it makes them look like they have really big feet!  With the exception of some of the teeny-tiny dolls, Little Souls wear "real people" shoes too!

Fabrics:  We are known for creating a unique mix of textures, colors and patterns for our Little Souls.  Lorelei wears iridescent silks, velvet and a printed tone-on-tone chiffon.  We've thrown dots and stripes together, and don't hesitate to experiment with just about any fabric known to woman.  We like surprises and are thrilled when we can pass them along to you!

Hands:  Little Souls' are named, dated and signed on their hands by the artist who makes them.  If a limited edition, they are numbered on the Certificate of Realness that comes with them.  Not all Little Souls are limited editions, so ask us before ordering to make sure we're making exactly what you want!

Leopard Boots:  These boots add a little sass to the overall serene and soft design.  Little Souls--and for that matter, big ones--should never be taken too seriously, so watch for funny feet-coverings throughout our collections.  Chinese slippers?  We got 'em!  Buckle-up patent leather shoes?  Check out Santa.  Upturned toe-felted boots?  Well, yeah.

Little Souls have an emotional appeal.  Like cashmere socks, a favorite winter robe and comfort food, our dolls make you feel good on the inside.
